I am installing a (Auto start AS-1260) on a 1995 - 5 speed volks golf.  I know we should never rush and skip steps but I only had a little free time.  After all was installed the car would not go into "ready" mode... meaning when I pressed the button on the remote, with the car running and the handbrake on... the car lights only flashed once (not 3 times) then when I turn off the key the car does not stay running.  I know it could be several things but here are some questions that concern me.

1- Do I really need to hook up the clutch bypass wire?  The volks starts without pressing the clutch

2- Does the valet wire have to be connected?

3- The remote starter was installed on another car before.  Does the remote need to be programmed again?

4- should the manual tach be programmed?

Yes you have to hook up the clutch bypass. If you mean the valet switch and wire, yes they have to be hooked up otherwise the unit won't work. It is actually the on/off switch. The remote doesn't have to be programmed again, but you do need to reprogram all the options and the tach setting for this car.

what wire would I hook the clutch bypass wire to in my 95 golf?  Even though my car starts without pressing the clutch I need to hook this bypass wire?

its says right on the bottom of it... "This unit is for manual transmission only"  ... maybe it is a 1260M... but I am almost positive it is not.  I will check when I get home

makes sense though... "M" for manual....  but I know for sure it said it was for manual cars only..  so maybe it is a 1260M then
