I installed a remote start on a 2005 pontiac aztec. It worked well when I tested no service lights on. The customer called me about a week after install and told me that the service engine soon light comes on only when remote started, it shuts off as soon as remote start is disengaged ie brake pedal is pushed. I used a dei 457gw to bypass passkey III, I also hooked up 2nd ignition. Is there something I should try to not have the light come on or is not going to cause any problems. I appreciate any info on this.

I use wire magic, the diagram calls for the orange as the accesory and that instead of hooking to the constant orange to use the heavy gauge red wires coming out of the center console. I'll try hooking up the accesory wire to the brown. Will it damage the car if it is not hooked up for awhile this guy is hard to get ahold of. Also does the 3rd ignition have to be hooked up?
Thanx

I would want to fix the problem A.S.A.P.
If not, he should not use the R / S.
If you are sure there is no bad or loose connections:
Some Installers believe the ORANGE as a Accessory & some as a 3rd Ignition.
I wire ORANGE as 3rd Ignition....... ( No Check Engine Lights ).............
BROWN is Accessory

If you are adding extra relays to your "Ground out when running" wire- be sure to diode isolate- I made that mistake on a 2004 Aztek- it would drain the battery in 12 hrs- I had run the extra ignition relay to get rid of the SES lite like you have- I was using a GM U7 for the bypass and needed the third ignition wire to get rid of the SES lite.......just a heads up......

test the wire. if it goes out while cranking it is an Accessory. If it stays on while you crank the starter it is an IGN.

Vehicle notes
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle is equipped with TRANSPONDER chips in the ignition keys. This system must be bypassed for Remote Starter installation. A keyless bypass module may be available, contact your distributor to find out. If one of these modules is not available to you, see the appropriate security diagram for bypass instructions.
* This wire should not be used to power a remote starter. You can run a line to the battery, or you can find power at the relays in the center console by removing the plastic side panel on the driver's side of the console. See the exploded view.
** This is a 1-wire doorlock system. A 470-ohm resistor to lock and a direct ground to unlock. This wire is located at the BCM in the center console. See the DOORLOCK diagram for exact wiring instructions.
*** Driver's door is DK.BLUE (pin-A7 on Pink plug), DK.BLUE/WHITE (pin-A3 on Pink plug) for other 3 doors. See the BCM diagram for exact pin locations.
**** The Body Control Module is locate behind the center console. Remove the plastic panel on the driver's side of the console to access. See the BCM diagram for exact pin locations.
***** System can be armed by pulsing the doorpin at the same time as lock. If your car starter has an arm wire, it can be connected directly to the doorpin. If you have to use the lock wire, be sure to use diodes to isolate the doorpin and lock relay or the doors will lock every time the door is opened. See the doorlock diagrams for exact wiring details.

....I know that in a lot of newer GM's you needt to diode isolate the parklight wire at the BCM to avoid setting off the service engine soon wile remote started. I ran into this problem a week ago in a 2000 monte carlo, and then 3 days after the same thing occured in a 03 impala. Just split the parklight wire in half and place a diode inline with band side facing the BCM. Connect youre parklight wire before the diode running twoards the bcm (closer to the factory relays)...and watever you do do NOT use + parklights on these vehcihles....use the - trigger lt blue wire pin A6 on the grey plug at the BCM

I just installed a Crimestopper 2011 combo unit in a 2005 Aztek 2 weeks ago,The customer called 5 days later with a dead battery,I went over all my connections and couldn't find anything wrong so I assumed she left a light on or something.A few days later it went dead again,I seen the post on diode isolating the groun out while running wire,so that's what I did. It's only been 2 days so far so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.I used a relay to power the brown wire as an accy.

The brownsecond wire is a second accessory and must be hooked up to prevent the check engine light from coming on. The engine light only comes on after a few minutes of run time under remote start so it is possible to miss when installing it. The other thing that causes the engine light to come on is failing to use the negative parking light wire. Light blue plug of the BCM and light blue wire. On most GM vehicles if you don't use the wire that comes from the headlight switch to trigger the parking lights the vehicle sets a trouble code because it thinks there is a short circuit in the wiring that caused the park lights to come on. Some vehicles turn on the check engine light for this and some don't. As mentioned by another member the Impalas and Buick Rendevous also do this.
