iv installed about 50 or so radios in my life, but never a remote start or keyless entry. maybe this is to complicated for me to do? i would buy a book if i could find one that would help me in this area. i am tring to install a valet 561R remote start in to my 1990 chevy astro van. im having problems figuring out what wire goes were? if someone can connect the dots it would be great! sorry about the size of the diagrams its the biggest 12volt  would allow.

thanks THEGOOSE

You don't use the following on that van:
Blue/white
RED / white
WHITE/ red
Grey/black
WHITE/ blue
yellow
GREEN / WHITE
GREEN/ black
skinny pink, purple, orange and blue harness
Pink/white

The white (-) parking light output must be converted to a (+) output with a relay.

The BLACK/ white Neutral wire must see ground for the unit to remote start. Connect it to the switch that came in the box. Connect the other side of the switch to ground. Turn switch ON. If servicing the engine or jump starting the van turn switch to OFF.

Hope that helps

Have you thoroughly read the install manual that comes with the unit?

DEI's instructions are pretty detailed compared to others, and they tell you what each wire in the car is supposed to do, how to test it, and even give you a rough idea of where to find each wire.

And that wiring chart for your Astro gives even more specific wiring locations. Of course, those charts are not always correct, so you'll want to TEST each wire before connecting to it, just as the manual says.

yes i read it front to back but im a nubie to this and comprehending it is a bit of a problem to me. i think these will be the last ones i install. i think its out of my skill level. i didnt know what [RED / black (-) 200ma channel 2 output] realy ment or where it went but turns out it didnt apply to my van.      but i got it to remote start im trying to get it to lock/unlock now im not getting a pulse to the test light from the blue or green wires so im rereading to find out what to do.

can't tell in your diagram for sure. valert 561 looks same as avital 4000. if so, then for you power locks to work, you have to use two relay or a 451M since the unit only outputs a negative trigger

Power Lock lt. blue   +  passenger kick panel
Power Unlock BLACK/ white   +  passenger kick panel
