I have an issue with the alarm system on a 97 Nissan Maxima. The doors and trunk lock and unlock when the alarm buttoms are pressed,  but the "chirp" does not sound indicating that the alarm is deactivated. When I turn the ignition to the "ACC" position the alarm siren starts to sound, after 5 minutes it stops. When the car doors are opened thereafter the alarm goes off again. This trouble just started.

Any information will be very helpful, Thanks. ESantana.

OK, if you are hearing a siren you don't have a factory alarm, it's aftermarket or dealer installed. Only if you were hearing a horn sound wuld it be a factory alarm...

Thanks for the info Mike M2. I'll check for the make and model number of the alarm system. In the interim, any idea on this type of issue?

Thanks. ESantana.

Check the Valet Button / Switch..........

Thanks Mo, I just pressed the button on this switch, that is connected to a wire leading to the alarm module, I dis-connected the siren to stop annoying my neighbors. Is there a "sequence" while pressing this button.

Any Info would be cool, Thanks ESantana

Usually, the Valet Button can be pressed for 2 seconds to Enter Valet, ( disables Alarm, Chirp, etc.....but retains Keyless Entry )
Then, Turn Ignition ON, and Press Valet button once to Enable Alarm
That may NOT work on your Unit.  Some units require different procedures.....

Pretty much what mo12v says.

Screw around with cycling the ignition switch, and pushing the valet switch, until you can get the aftermarket LED to come on steady----at that point, you're in valet mode, and the alarm is no longer functional.

Try a few of these and see what might work:

--Key on, tap switch.

--Key on, HOLD switch.

--Key on, key off, tap switch.

--HOLD switch, key on.
