Subject: Need info on anti-start system

Hi,

I have a an anti-start system in my car that requires me to use an accesory (in this case the headlights) before being able to start the car (otherwise it does not crank). This system also includes a status LED on the dash that flashes when the system is "armed" (the arming is passive).

I would like to install a DEI alarm on my car that already has a starter kill (when it goes off). Because I have no knowledge on the existing system, I would like to know if it would interfere with the instalaltion of the alarm. I would not mind having the two system working toghether.. is it possible?

thanks for any help!

Depending on the vehicle, sometimes is it fairly simple to disarm the stock security system. For more information, post more information about your vehicle, yr, make, model????

Car is 1998 Ford Escort.

The anti-start system is not stock. It was added after the car was bought (paid by the insurance company)

thanks!

it would probably be better it you took the other system out. Most of dei's remote starts have a built in starter kill. It would kind of be pointless to have two alrams in you car.

Well its not an alarm but more of a simple anti-start system. I would not mind having to disarm the DEI system (which does not have remote start) + flash the headlights to start the car. More security cant be bad, alright?

if I require to remove the system, where this kind of system usually located?

thanks

I sounds like maybe your stater wire has been cut, a relay added and hooked up to the light switch to reconnnect starter wire.  Should not be hard to find.
