universal transponder bypass

I have always found that if you put the ring the farthest way out toward the plastic cover on the column it will work best. Try to keep it away from metal in the column. I usually use some strip caulk to hold it in place once I find the right location on the lock cylinder, that way it won't move later on. 

I will most of the time cut the black part surrounding the ring on the bypass. Thats what someone told me from directed one time to recieve a better signal.

I never use the wire that they give you on those universal modules......... too fat ! I cut it off and wind up about 24 " of single strand telephone wire around the loop. This allows more loops for the signal to be induced as well it also makes it easier to wrap around the cylinder.

You must install the transponder bypass ring or loop right against the factory transponder coil, the plastic piece surrounding the end of the igntion cylinder. I have seen some kits that don't have a series of loops in them and they don't work. If the bypass doesn't work, check that there is continuity through the ring, form one wire to the other. It is sometimes better to use some 22 or 24 gauge wire and wrap it around the factory exciter ring at least 4 times. Use tape, tie wraps or putty to hold it in place. The wire MUST be a coil to work. It is sometimes easier to find a round item a little bigger in diameter than the igntion cylinder and wrap the thin wire around it to make a coil. You can then tape it so the ring doesn't come apart.

thanks all that responded,Iwas able to twist loop tight around the plastic part and zip tie it into position to keep it in place and now works great.
