This weekend I plan to install a Crimestopper CS2004DCII alarm/keyless entry on a 2001 Chev Cavalier. This will be my second alarm install. The first was on a 98 Toyta Tacoma. My question is: will there be any problems or special wiring due to the fact that its a GM? This is for a friend, so I don't want to screw it up. Input would be appreciated.

Well you will find the door pin wire in the driver kick panel (  driver pin will be lt.GREEN/ black ) (passenger and rear will be dk.blue ) for 2 or 4 doors  to access the ignition wire  it's easier to go under the dash ( top left  driver side )  Just remove the loom that mesure about 5 inches  and check for the big gage wire  BAT = red    IGN = pink   STARTER = yellow   if you need to protect the trunk you will need to drive a wire to the trunk and use a pin because the trunk mercury switch give (+) to the light   for the parklight  go to the kick panel (driver) the wire color is brown   If the car got power door lock  LOCK wire is lt.blue(+) UNLOCK wire is white(+) you will find them in the driver kick panel  BUT if your alarm system use (-) door lock output you will need to buy a module that will change the (-) pulse to a (+) pulse  I think you got all the info you need to do the job GOOD LOCK

I did a 2005 2 wks ago- got the ignition wires at the ignition plug behind steering wheel- took off steering column cover- and unplugged both ignition wire harnesses- then pulled them out 3 inches- enough room to sit in the seat and solder-  if you try to take off the front panel below the steering wheel- you don't need to- all other connections I made at the BCM-drop it down-  including the theft bypasses........

Thanks for the speedy response. I believe the car has power door locks. It has no lock switches, but it automatically locks and unlocks with the ignition. Will that feature still work with the module? Or will I have to somehow bypass this?

If there are NO switches- then someone has put in aftermarket actuators and a module that is doing the locking-  All OEM systems have door lock switches if electric locks are OEM-   you will have to tie into the aftermarket module- it should have negative trigger leads for lock and unlock- look for a white and a brown wire on the lock module- if aftermarket applies..............

Ah hah. So then it would be possible to completely do away with the lock module completely, since the crimestopper system has the same feature anyway, and just tie into the aftermarket actuators. Unless I am really missing something here.

No- your aftermarket alarm nodule has the reversible relays in it to lock and unlock- your Crimestopper remote start module ONLY supplies the negative pulses for both lock and unlock- these wires (blue and green) would be connected to the input of the already existing sftermarket module (if it is a Tesor then use the brown wire and white wires) .........
