No radio when remote start

Just a thought. Since the remote start system taps into the brake switch, can I use the brake switch wire for the remote start to keep the radio off during remote start with a relay?

Put the brake wire from the RS unit on pin 85 and then the brake switch side on pin 86. The stock radio on wire on 30 and to the radio on 87a. This would make the radio see no power when the RS unit is used to start the car. When I get in turn the key to On/Run and press the brake the radio will then see power since the Relay will revert to the NC position, right?

you would have to do it like this:
term 85.ground out while remote started
term 86.12volt constant
term 87a.power wire for radio-cut in half
term 30.other side of radio power wire.

What vehicle is this for ? Most vehicles have a designated ACC wire that poweres the radio, wipre's, power windows, etc that doesn't need to be powered up during remote start and therefore will not power on until you place the key into the ignition cylinder to take over the vehicle. Just curious about the vehicle type seeing that this relay that your trying to built may not be necessary if you have a designated ACC wire that already does this for you.

Disconnect your RS from the BLACK/ green accessory wire, and you SHOULD be all set. (But read the caution note below.) That's the wire that only shows power when the key is in the Accessory position.

ADDED BONUS: That wire also triggers the windshield wipers. If you were to leave the wipers on when you parked the car, and you remote-start it the next morning..... the wipers might be running across a dry windshield, or worse, jammed in ice.

With that BLACK/ green wire unpowered, the wipers will remain off until you take over with the key.

CAUTION: On some Fords, though, the BLACK/ green wire also provides power for the air-conditioning compressor.

After you disconnect the BLACK/ green, remote-start the car and see if the AC compressor will still come on.

If you only use the remote start in the winter, it's not a big deal.
