ok im putting my compustar in my 96 dodge avenger and i have run into a few question. on the compustar there are 2 parklight wires. one is small gauge and the other is larger gauge with a fuse. can anyone telll me which wire goes where. i prev had a code alarm pro installed in the car and i took it out. the guy who installed it had a parking light output wire going to a GREEN / WHITE wire that was located in the drivers kick/harness going to the back and he had the parking light polarity wire which had a fuse link going to a constant in the steering colum. also i have a factory alarm in the car and dont have a clue where the arm disarm wires are at or what color they are. when the prev guy installed the code alarm he somehow managed to get the code alarm to arm and disarm the factory but there are not other wires going from the code alarm anywhere. there is not even a arm disarm wire feature on the code alarm. but what i did notice is that the blue door unlock (-) that come from the code alarm was spliced into and went to another factory with in the car. now i have no idea what wire it is conected to and unfortunately i am 5000 miles away fromt he guy who did the install. do you think maybe this is how he managed to get the code to arm and disarm the factory. btw i am able to arm and disarm my factory alarm by putting my key in the drivers door lock and unlocking the doors and vise vera and set the alarm by locking the doors with my key. ------------- i love the power glove....its so bad.

Power Lock BROWN / white - driver kick, door harness
Power Unlock brown - driver kick, door harness
To unlock only the driver door on models with keyless entry, use BROWN / blue (-) at the relays behind the radio.
Factory Alarm Arm GREEN/ YELLOW - driver kick, door harness
Meter this wire while turning the key in the driver door key cylinder. Can also use the passenger door key cylinder which is RED / blue (-) in the passenger kick, door harness.
Factory Alarm Disarm GREEN / WHITE - driver kick, door harness
Meter this wire while turning the key in the driver door key cylinder. Can also use the passenger door key cylinder which is BROWN / red (-) in the passenger kick, door harness.

Use the fused output on the GREEN / WHITE wire that he used. Don't need the smaller guage wire on this install. On the code alarm the 2nd wire fed the first wire either 12v power or ground. Where he had it going to 12v power it fed the wire connected to the GREEN / WHITE (in kick panel) with 12v when flashing the parking lights. The new system is different and has both outputs -ground or +12v. You just choose which one you need to use. In this case just use the fused output on the same wire he used and you should be fine.

He sent the unlock pulse to both the unlock wire and the factory alarm disarm wire. Probably did the same with the lock output. The wires I gave you above should tell you whether he did or not on the lock. ------------- Steve G

Are there any diodes on the wires that run to both unlock and disarm?

ok i think i figured out how he did it. my factory alarm will arm itself after 30 sec or so. so the prev installer was not conserned with making it arm, all he was conserned about was disarming it. now since the code did not have the arm/disarm feature, he wired it so that when it sent a pulse to unlock the door it also sent a pulse to the disarm wire. now my question is can i wire it the same way. reason being is when i removed the code i left some lengths of wire and just soldered the compustar to the old code wires. now the compustar has a arm disarm feature but the way it is wired now is that the factory disarm and the door unlock are both wired into the compustar door unlock wire. will this work in the same manner as the code alarm worked. i am not to concerned with arming the factory as it arms itself. also the green wire that has the fuse on it (from compustar) you told me to wire it to the green white wire thats at the driver kick. is that wire + or -. i just want to make sure i dont blow something becasue if it has a fuse on it doesnt that mean there would be power comming from the compustar. sorry about all the questions i just want to be sure. i am getting conflicting info on the wires and stuff. for example https://aseclub.net/invision/index.php?showtopic=75540&st=0&#entry815980 you will se close to the bottom it says that there is both a + and - park wire. i dont know where he got that list. ------------- i love the power glove....its so bad.

just wire the unlock the same way, it didnt hurt it before so try it that way. The fused output is +12v parking light. The smaller gauge wire you mentioned would be for negative parking light out which you aren't using in this install.

ok i sucessfully installed my compustar a/s and it work perfect. my question is, is there a way to change the arm/disarm chirp? it sounds the same as my old cheap junky 35 dollar bulldogg alarm.

You need to try a different siren.....or program it out for arm and disarm!
