Any advice on the door locks on this car? I see some different ideas on doing them. On Trilogixs site they show some interfaces for locks and alarms. Any experience with these? I have the XK modules listed for that car. Any input would be great..Thanks Ziggy

yea the sequia has the same kind of locks. if you are catching everything in the driver's door you will also have to enable double pulse unlock. the first pulse will "wake the unit up" and the second will unlock it. do a search on here for a sequia (not sure if that is spelled right -- been drinking :D ) also make sure you have your diodes facing the right way. ------------- "I cannot teach anybody anything, I can only make them think."

Actually, the first pulse will unlock the driver's door only, and the second pulse unlocks all the doors.....
So you can set the unit for double pulse if you want...... but you can also have it unlock the driver's door on the first press, and the other doors on the second press.

Does this Avalon have a factory alarm? If it doesn't, you can also perform a "5-wire" job on the doorlock motor wires, which are inside the car........ they're blue/red, blue/black, and blue, on the right-hand side of the fusebox.
That saves you the trouble of going into the driver's door, but it still takes nearly as long as going into the door and configuring the one relay/two diodes deal......so I usually end up going into the door on all of them anyway.
For me, those modules are not financially worth it.....I would rather spend 15 minutes doing the locks myself, than $30 on the module. But, if you have a lot of trouble working with relays, or the idea of fishing wires into the door really turns you off, the module might be well worth it.

I agree with Chris, if your comfortable with relay wiring it just doesn't pay to buy a mod for Toyota locks. For 15 minutes work you can have it done. I personally use a 451M for my doorlocks. On certain Toyotas, the 200ma output isn't enough to make the locks work everytime. Directed used to have a techtip that showed the 451M being used, but it's apparently not available anymore. Also, if you go into the door, you can get power and ground right from the door switch.

i have never used an integration piece on any of the toyotas. dei has a good tech tip on how to do these locks and i want to say it has 2 relays. also, the last one i did you had to use the second relay to factory disarm which was something like yel/blk or yel/red. if you do everything in the passenger side door you don't have to enable double pulse for all the doors. also, i never use the 2nd unlock off the lock circuit of the alarm/keyless entry. but the way to test it is wire your relays and then tap a wire onto where the unlock comes in and tap it to a ground twice. if that works then just enable double pulse and you are all set. good luck with it, the first one i did was kinda weird too.

Hey guys thanks for all the advice. I just finished the Avalon and it was XLS model with the alarm and of coarse the immodilizer.. Used the two relays in the door with the diodes.. Worked great... Actually a pretty good install.. Will be alot quicker next time.. Thanks again.... Ziggy
