I installed alarm/remote start on a 01 Nissan Maxima.  When I remote start my car, car starts but dies immediately.  Anything I should check for?

Did you program tach? Did you install the 556U interface module? You will need one for this car. If you have, try remote starting the car with the key in the ignition. If it starts, you know there is a problem with the interface.

how do I program the tach?

Car will only start if I turn the key to ON position but starter keeps engaging while the car is on.  It seems as if the car doesn't recognize that it's on and wants to keep starting.

I have the 555U.  Maybe something to do w/ the 555U ring and the key cylinder?

sounds to me like you have a problem with the second starter wire.  Ive done something like this before when installing a relay for the second starter.  What I found is you need to ground the relay for this starter to the remote start status output wire.  That way, the relay will not engage for any other time except remote start cranking.

I tried to program tach but I was not able to do so.  Light doesn't come on when I hold the valet button within 5 sec of starting my car.

did you hook up the tach  wire. Sounds like you didn't or you didn't hook it up to the right wire. Did you tap the in put for the relay to the mini four pin harness off the relay pack.

Is there a way to reset the brain?  My valet button stopped working for some reason.  I heard plug everything w/ the key at ON position?  Can someone confirm this?

I hooked up the tach wire correctly.

Only time my car will remote start is if I have the key at ON position.

Wether remote start toggle switch is on or off, remote start will try to start the car but doesn't actually start.  Car keeps cranking but doesn't catch.

do you have the second starter wire hooked up correctly?

also on the ignition 1 did you use the smaller gauge BLACK/ red wire?

the starter 1 will either be
BLACK/ RED or BLACK/ WHITE
also the 2 accessory wires?

There's only 1 accessory wire which is Orange from alarm.  There are 2 accessory wires?

I cut thicker (BLACK/ red - starter #1) wire in half.  I connected green wire from alarm to harness side.  I connected the purple wire from alarm to the other side.

I cut (BLACK/ blue - starter #2) wire in half.  I made a jumper wire which connects from purple wire from alarm to this BLACK/ blue wire.  I didn't connect it to the harness side but the other side of the cut.

I connected pink wire from alarm to thinner (BLACK/ red - ignition).  I connected pink/white from alarm to (red - ignition #2 ??? )  Not sure if the red wire on ignition harness is ignition #2

I connected orange wire from alarm to (WHITE/ blue - 2nd accessory)

I connected the red wires from alarm to (green - 12v)

After playing around a bit, I got to a point where car starts only if I have the key inserted.  If I don't have key inserted, my remote start won't work.

There is something wrong with your 555U. Check your wiring and placement of your cylinder ring.

ok

the second starter needs a relay- use the trigger wire from the 4 small wires off the acrs pack- purple

second accessory use another relay and use the orange off the xcrs do not connect it straight to the wire

the second starter should not be cut

the 4 wires from the xcrs that are small gauge are relay trun on wires and should not be directly connected tot he wire in the car without the use of a relay

also check the bypass that it is mounted correctly around the cylinder.

Are you suppose to keep your valet key in the 555U?

If remote starter works w/ either ON and OFF remote start toggle switch, is there problem w/ the swtich itself or wiring problem?

See if you can go into programing if you can than the valet button is working , after that I would try to program the unit for voltage sense . This way you can see if the ring is in the right place .

RS shouldn't work if your toggle is off.  one wire from the toggle switch should go to the neutral safety wire from the alarm and the other wire should go to ground.  it doesn't matter which one goes to which wire.

As for the cylinder ring for the bypass, i use a small zip tie to make sure it stays snug around the key cylinder.  i've never used a 555, just the 556 and that works for me.

if you can put the alarm into valet mode, then your valet switch is working.
