What exactly does the CAN interface do? What makes it different then other interfaces?

Yeah, this is a GOOD question!

I had to fit a Navi to a Skoda Octavia, I was sent a CAN Lead with instructions it cost round £95?

but what does it do? On the instructions it had power, earth, Hi & Low inputs & an output.

What are the Inputs? How do they differ from the Normal speed-pulse?

which the CAN lead is supposed to convert to?

Skodas are a clone of VWs & VWs have Gala wires which is a spw...No?
