Vehicle: 98 Potnaic Grand Prix GTP-has no Passkey 3

my question is this, i wanted to install the security alarm first on the car then install the remote start later.  i also printed out the schematics of the GP GTP BCM and even have pics of the wires to connect them to.

i spliced the corresponding wires to the BCM under the driver kick  panel.  i wired the Horn from the Viper-brown to the horn relay on the BCM-black negative.  spliced the unlock door which was a blue wire from the Viper to the white wire on C6 also on the BCM, positive.  now i grounded the wire from the viper, and spliced the red wire to a 12V constant.  when i pressed the unlock on the keyless remote i'd get the horn signal but none of the doors would unlock at all.  i double-checked the connection and the crimplets are touching the actual wires under the insulators of the unlock wires, so there's connection, but no motion for it to work?  anyone know what i am doing wrong?  the horn signal works when i press lock or unlock, but the actual locks wont occur.  i also did ahead of time the auto learn for the viper alarm, turn key on to 'On' and within 10 seconds press the valet switch once and press and hold a second time for it to configure.  thanks in advance.

It's got to be one of three things----- wrong wire in the car, wrong wire from the alarm, or bad alarm (not likely).

Disconnect the connection you made to the unlock wire...... or just unplug the doorlock harness from the Viper.

--Test the car's wire while you press the unlock switch on the door panel.

--Test the alarm's door-unlock output while pressing unlock on the remote.

--You are testing the wires with some sort of circuit tester as you go, right? Factory wiring diagrams are a useful aid, but they are not to be trusted blindly.

And GM cars, in general, use a LOT of small blue and white wires.

i didnt get to use a cicuit tester/multi-tester this time around, unlike i did with my previous car, becuase i was under the impression with the diagrams and pics of the wires i needed to splice/connect into i wouldnt need it.   i'll go back and test the wires with the circuit tester.  thanks.

I never recommend connecting wires that havent been tested the wire sch. are never guaranteed to be right
