I was curious to know if the 99 Buick Century needs a special additional module for the Avital 3200 remote start to be installed.  My question refers to the Passlock II or the like.  A family member is having it professionally installed, just curious if she'll get nailed with extra charges?

Yes, you will need a Passlock bypass module

No problemo, BTW: I have run into this before where there is a chipped key ( and you can see the chip in the metal part of the key ) but the VATS wires were not hooked up to anything . Strange and it surprised me, but in this even, I did not have to bypass the VATS at all, rather it was like a normal chipless key. Just check to make sure that the VATS key is actually needed to start the vehicle.

it is a chipless key but doesn't the passlock II have to do with the ignition?

The 99 Century still uses the VATS system. To test go and get a key made for this car and try to start it. If it starts then you know it doesn't have the VATS installed. If it doesn't start, then there is an OEM anti theft system on it. Post your results.
