I have a 93 Corolla DX witha 1.8 liter motor and was tired of the Chapman car alarm because it would not shut off and the kill switch quit working and tried to disconnect it, spliced the old wires together the motor turns over and i get juice to the distributor and coil but won't start. It has me baffled.

You might have blown a fuse while working under there.....there are two separate ignition wires coming form the keyswitch; it is possible that one of them is not getting power.
Do all of the dash lights come on? Climate controls? Wipers? Radio?

yes all of those come on and all the fuses are good, could it be the igniter

hi, what function did the kill switch have.....interrupt ignition, starter, fuel pump? did wiring lead to coil, igniter... any remaining alarm pieces still connected? mark

it was to the starter but it turns over , the wires were spliced together under the dash from the ignition switch and cut the wires from the kill switch and no the alarm is out of the car and don't have any wiring diagrams to go by except what was on the alarm

Next, is probably time to test EVERY fuse in the car, both in the kick panel, and under the hood.
I doubt you actually damaged a part, such as the igniter, while just removing the alarm.
It is probably something silly.....a fuse, or you cut/nicked a wire by mistake, or maybe you unplugged something and forgot to put it back?
By chance, were you also working under the hood, perhaps to remove a siren or hoodpin switch? Did you have to unplug or unbolt anything that was in your way?

Also, was the Chapman alarm simiar to what is used today------a plastic box for the brain, wires coming out, and a keychain remote control?
Or is is the older style, with the heavy shielded cable to lock the hood shut, and a round key to disengage the system?

it is the plastic box for the brain , yeah my brother was working on the car and wanted me to unhook the siren that was under the hood, that is when the problem started after I unhooked the siren it wouldn't even turn over then, we got the car at a auction and i drove it home and we didn't get any remote for the alarm so the car was working until we took the siren then the alarm itself out
