I've just purchased a 1996 Dodge Caravan with a Viper alarm /keyless entry/remote start that seems to work fine, except that the remote start only worked once, and that was by accident. Does anyone know which button(s) and the sequence to press them in order to start it with the remote? The remote has 4 buttons: Lock, Unlock, Siren & AUX. I've looked under the dash and under the hood, but cannot find the actual unit to get a model number off of it. The keyless entry and locking works fine every time with a chirp from the alarm too. Any help would be appreciated.

Hold lock and unlock together for about 1 second.

Press and release the lock and unlock buttons at the same time. If it's the right command, the parking lights should flash once, then the vehicle should start.

Thanks for the responses guys. I did what you said and the lights flashed once and the engine cranked for about 1 second, but not long enough to start. I tried it a few times and that's all it did. Definitely a step in the right direction, but there must be something else to it?

A common failure point is the tachometer wire. Because it is connected under the hood, it is prone to corrosion, as well as getting knocked loose by people servicing the car.

Look under the hood for any wire that appears to be aftermarket, going to either the engine, or the engine computer which I believe is next to the battery.

Once you find the wire, see if it is disconnected or damaged.
