I need advice on what to check on a 98 merc villager when the keyless entry\antitheft system will not work at all.

First things first, gotta check the simple things.  Fuses good? battery in transmitter good?  Do the power lock switches work properly?  Has anything at all be done to the vehicle recently?

It is a new transmitter,with batteries,door locks work fine,only fuse i could find was labeled as sec and it was fine. when i try to program nothing happens

Is it a factory system or aftermarket?

it is factory. id like to figure this out  without paying a ford dealership ive already done that on another matter and it was something simple

Well i figured out the keyless entry,It wouldnt program due to the fact that the ignition lock cylinder housing had been busted at one time and not fixed right.The little switch attached to it wasnt being pushed when the key was inserted.   now that part is fixed i still cant get the factory antitheft system to arm,any advice would be helpful
