I am looking to put on remote start on my '04 silverado and needed some advice on which way to go.  I have installed DEI remote starts before and been very pleased with them.  So unless someone has a better opinion I will probably install one of them.  All I want it to do is start the truck and kick on the heated seats.  I like the 561T so I can use the factory remotes (remote range is not an issue).  I want to use the factory remotes so I don't lose features like perimeter lighting and the memory settings assigned to each remote.  Is all I need to do this is the 561T and 457G?  If so is everything just as easy as plugging.  Also does DEI make a T-harness or do I need to buy a GM12 from bulldog and splice in the DEI connector plug?  Thanks for any advice.

Aron

As far as I know, DEI doesnt make a t-harness. And if you plan on keeping your factory remotes, there is really no point in using a 457g as it controls the passlock bypass AND the doorlocks (which you will still have control over with your factory remote). The 555l will get the job done for cheaper. As for the heated seats, I'd wire up a toggle switch to the status output wire on the 561t to trigger the heated seats. That way, in warm weather you can just turn off the toggle switch and the heated seats wont turn on everytime you use the remote start. But as for what wire to tap into on the seat module and how to wire the circuit, I'm not 100% sure about thta one yet. But I'm still doing my homework as I'm trying to do the same thing to my Suburban.

Both the GM-U7 and the GM-SL will turn on your heated seats and mirrors- automatically - only when the engine coolant temp is below freezing- as well as take care of all bypasses and doorlocks and disarming- very fast and easy to install.......

After doing some research it looks like the GM-SL has had less problems.  Is this true?  Also, I haven't installed any of these modules before.  So what all is involved?  Thanks again.

So let me get this straight.  All I need is the 561T and the GM-SL to do remote start?  Also, is the interfacing between these units easy to do or at least have good instructions?

Yes all you need a the two units and tape, solder, wiring diagram and some patience. If there are any other questions along the way in your installation, post them here.
