I was wondering if the 2004 spectra (american model) with factory alarm has a transponder? It has the factory remotes and I am wanting to install a remoter start-alarm(2 way autopage). What are the wires for the factory alarm disarm for start-up??? I looked but it said you can only disarm with the factory remotes??WTF never heard of this, please help, thank you.

you are gonna have to test this one. arm the system and see if you can get it to disarm with the key in the door. If that doesn't work, arm it up and just start it with the key. If that works, then it probobly disarms with ignition and key sense, or ignition w/ transponder. You can also hardwire the factory remote, but this can be kind of difficult depending on the remote. The bright side is that it will give you full controll over arm and disarm w/ the remote.

KIA / SPECTRA (2.0L) / 2004

Factory Alarm Arm factory remote only
Factory Alarm Disarm factory remote only

the 2004 1.8L is listed as N/A for factory alarm/disarm. neither vehicles need a bypass for remote start function

By hardwiring the remotes, I mean that you use the factory remote in the install. To do this takes 2 relays. All you need to do is crack open the remotes, and find the copper traces on the ciruit board that make contact when the button is pressed. Once you find these traces, solder to them, and have the RS trigger a relay to make the contact for you instead of the button. Do this for the lock and unlock and your set. One thing you need to check before this is that the remote works when the engine is running. If not, you will have to tag the lockl and unlock wires on the car at the same time. this can be a pain, but after doing a few of them, you'll get the hang of it. One tip tho, leave the remote somewhat accessible, since the remotes battery will eventually need replacing.
