Guys I just installaed a Black Widow 3900 alarm last night. The alarm is supposed to lock the doors once the ignition is turned on. However, it only does it sometime. I make sure all the doors are closed before I turn on the ignition and it only locks the doors 1 out of maybe 4-5 tries. Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks https://www.blackwidowsecurity.com/3900.htm

Does your keyless entry work fine ? How did you make your connections ? Solder/tape or connectors?

The keyless entry work fine. I used connectors in the install.

Yes I programmed the unit for it. I believe that the ignition lock feature is on by default, but i re-programmed the feature again anyway. The keyless entry works fine and the lock unlock when the ignition is turned off. They just won't lock everytime when the ignition is turned on. I've even tried the 1sec. lock, 3 sec. lock and 1sec. lock x 2 features and those didn't help either.

Do you know if you got the correct ignition wire? If you did not make the correct connection to the ignition wire that might be your problem. Reading from your post it sounds like that to be the case. Your ignition wire from the alarm unit should be connected to either of the wire below.
IGNITION|BLACK / YELLOW |+ |ignition harness |
SECOND IGNITION|BLACK/ orange |+ |ignition harness | ------------- Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.

Thanks, I'll check those wires to see. I've also noticed that the dome light supervision doesn't work, any ideas?

I checked the wiring and it's on the BLACK / YELLOW...I tried the BLACK/ white with the same results. However it seems that if I put the key to on and then off then on again and start the car, the doors lock. I guess if I can't figure it out I'll just live with it like that.

Also check to see if you have a good grounding point for the alarm unit. If you have a poor ground. It can also make the alarm unit behave irraticly. I would try and relocate to a different grounding point and see if there is any impovement. ------------- Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.

try a relay for the dome supervision. i know the older black widows needed a relay 99% of the time

Sorry to bring back this topic from the dead. For the dome light supervision the alarm has a built in relay. Do I still need to use a separate realy? If so do I need to bypass the internal relay?

Most systems offer only a 200ma or so output, this is not enough for the light. If your system has an internal relay with a supply in and out for the domelight supervision feature there is no need for an additional relay.
