1999 Toyota Camry remote start

Vehicle: 1999 Toyota Camry LE
(Has factory remote for lock/unlock/alarm)

I am going to install a remote starter in this vehicle and I am not sure if I need a bypass module. It does have a metal key (no rubber cap) that works to start the car so it is not a transponder type of system. It also does not have a resistor built into the key. I am assuming that this car does not require a bypass but I would like your professional opionion(s) to guide me in the right direction.

Only the V6 XLE Camry in that year had a transponder. No bypass needed.

Definitely no chip in the key you describe.

Also, your factory Toyota remote doesn't work when the engine is running----make sure the remote starter you buy also has outputs to control the power locks with the new remote.

Hello. I recently installed an Alert 350R (remote starter and keyless entry) into a 1999 Toyota Camery. The remote starter portion of it works just fine; however the keyless entry does not. I do not believe that I am tapped in the right wires. The doors will lock and unlock however only when the car is off. If it is on (remote started), we must use the original remote to unlock the doors.

OK, so thats problem one. Problem two is that I know I'm not using the right wires because the factory alarm does not activate/deactivate with lock/unlock. It works fine with the factory remote but not the new one.

Anybody know the two wires that I need to correctly arm/disarm the factory alarm and lock/unlock the doors?

usually you disarm the factory alarm with keysense.... and on many Toyotas the keyless entry doesnt work if the vehicle is running, they are designed this way.... did you hook up both child lock wires?

Notes: The lock wires are about 18 gauge. They will test only by operating the key in the passenger door lock cylinder, not the rocker switch on the door itself.
