I have the 791xv unit, it works great but over the last few days when I lock/unlock or arm/disarm the unit the led shows the unit as unlocked and then chirps 4 times..the car itself is locked or unlocked and goes thru the usual beep or beeps. so i'm guessing the problem is with the remote ??? I've switched out the battery but thats the extent of my "knowledge" on car alarms, any help is apprecaited

I have installed many 791VX viper remote start two-way paging alarms and have come to the conclusion that the antenna in the vehicle, which sends the rf to the remote, goes bad in time. you may try to get your hands on a new remote or go to your local viper dealer and see if they will let you try a new antenna
