I have a 1998 oldsmobile cutlass with a factory anti-theft system. It has a little under 200,000 miles on it. The problem i am having ids the tumblers in the ignition are wearing out and i don't have the money to get a new one. I was wondering how, if you could, disable the anti-theft system permanently.

You can get a tumbler from a junk yard for pretty cheap..Secondly,do you have a chip key?

If your car has VATS (resistor chip in the key) then you can find the two thin white wires in the ignition harness and cut them. Wire in a resistor of the same value across the car side (not key side) of the two cut wires to permanently disable the system. The two white wires are usually inside orange or black insulation and may appear as one wire until they terminate at a large connector along with all the other wires.
