Got a weird issue on a 1989 VW Jetta GLI. Installed an Audiovox APS-250, and everything works great, except for one thing. When the battery is reconnected after being disconnected, the alarm goes off instantly. I have the voltage sensing function disabled and everything is connected correctly (to my knowledge and according to the included wiring diagram).

This is a bit annoying, especially when I do a lot of work on the car, requiring me to disconnect the battery frequently.

Is this by design? Has anything seen anything like this before?

That's normal for most alarms.

The only company that i know of that doesn't do that is the DEI Clifford line.If power is removed from the units, when power is returned, the alarm returns to it's original state that it was in before it lost power.

Put it into valet mode before you disconnect the battery then....... that is what it is there for......

OK cool, thanks. Didn't know that about valet mode. I figured I'd probably never use that.

I guess that's why the two hondas we have never did that, since they both have DEI boxes.

Thanks,
