Want the best way to prove this? Take a manual put a remote start in it and take the other installers and salesmen and go to an open stretch of road or a big parking lot with no light poles. Sit in the car and remote start it and let them see what happens when the car starts going. Or you can have them call any alarm manufacture and have them ask if a remote start should be put on a manual trani. Also technicaly I don't think that is illegal to actually do, just stupid, although you might want to check in your state.

Have you looked for a remote starter that could be installed into manual trans?

The only way to do this is to use a model designed for manual transmissions. You have to take certain safety measures when installing and must set all these features each time you exit the vehicle, or it will not start. It sounds like a pain to do so, but once in the habit it is not so bad. There are ways that you could make a remote starter designed for an automatic give the illusion of safety by installing a switch around the gear shifter and tapping into the E-brake switch and so on, but they are still not guaranteed. velocity motorsports sells the models I am referring to above if you haven't already check them out ------------- J Rilla

AST Ultrastarters 1250M and 1500M work good for standard tranny vehicles.

I've never heard of such an installation being "illegal"-----rather, it's a large liability risk for the shop's owner. If your boss doesn't know what can happen when a manual car is left in gear, do show him-----but remember that these decisions are up to the owner, not the employees.

Whoever is MECP certified knows that your not really suppose to hook up any remote start on a manual tranny. The book I studied from actually said your not suppose to.. but I can't find the book and don't remember the name. I've never seen a shop actually hook it up, that's why most of the time the jobs end up coming to me as a side job... but I would only do it for certain people I trust. ------------- My Personal Installer Note: Connectors are easy, neat, and professional. But do you know how to crimp properly?

tell the shop owner to buy units that are auto, manual & diesel ready. They are not any more expensive than auto ONLY RS units, at least not the ones from my distributors. This way you as an installer can install it into any vehicle and the shop owner can still charge the customer for more install time for a manual tranny vehicle for the clutch bypass.

I used DirectStart for my main RS units. 3 year warranty and good pricing.
