Hi,  I am a somewhat trained installer who no longer practices autosound/secutity but does another long, tiring, and relentless career.

Anyway, I have an older vehicle, 1983 Ford Crown Victoria, and decided that I wanted remote start; I installed a Viper 550 and have had no problems, with the exception of the a/c and accessory outputs.  AS you may or may not know, there are two accessory wires at the ignition, both being gray / YELLOW and differeing only in gauge.  Naturaly, both wires were hooked up to the acc output of the alarm, but when remote start is activated, the a/c, as well as the dash gauges will not power up.  The blower for the ac/heater works fine, the vehicle starts yet no ac.  Might anyone be able to tell me which wire I could tap to power up the ac and dash?  Im sure I could easily test for the wires, but my time is very limited and any help would be oh-so appreciated.  Thank you!!!

David

So your a teacher now eh ?? posted_image posted_image

  • Some Ford vehicles are equipped with Heater/AC blower motors which draw large amounts of current. These vehicles are equipped with three Ignition 2 wires. Two of these are very thick (12 gauge). The other wire is a smaller 16 gauge. All of these wires are ‘hot’ (+12 volts) in the run position only. You will need to hook up a relay in this configuration:

    • 87 - GRAY / YELLOW 12 gauge wires from FORD vehicle

    • 85 - Primary Ignition output from remote starter

    • 86 + 30 - 12 volts constant ( FUSED 20 amps )

    • 87a -  NOT USED

    • CONNECT 16 GAUGE 2nd IGNITION WIRE TO 2nd IGNITION WIRE OF REMOTE STARTER

  • Note: Thin 16 gauge wire will be either Pink/Black or Gray / YELLOW
  • Thick wires will be either Gray / YELLOW or BLACK/ Lt. Green

Please test all wires and verify circuits before installing into the vehicle. This information was was taken from another installation site , so please make sure you test to ensure proper outputs of each wires.
