hey all, I own a 1998 Mitsubishi Express. I want to be able to open the rear boot door without having the dash light come on. I understand that the doors work on an open closed circuit, and there might be an easy way to wire it so when the door is opened it dosent trigger the dash "open door" light to come on.

any advice would be much appreciated

Does opening the hatch trigger anything else that you DO still want to operate normally, like a luggage light?

The wiring charts says the trigger is a ground (-), considering that and maybe the 3rd brake light is also on the boot (maybe not) then maybe look for the wiring harness that goes between the boot and the body. Remove the rubber booty, then probe the wires for the one that goes to (-) when the boot is opened.
Maybe only like 3 wires?
1- ground (-) (for the whole boot)
2- POS (+) to brake light
3- to open close switch/sensor

Just a guess.. Good luck..

tibby01 - no, the luggage light I rarely use, most of the time I keep it switched to the off position and if i need it I will turn it on manually

floaterr - you wouldnt happen to have a copy of the wiring charts by any chance would you? I have been looking for them for this particular vehicle for quite some time without any luck.
