Subject: Remote on Viper 791xv Eating Batteries?

I have a Viper 791xv I installed in a friend's car. Apparently, the 2-way remote is going through batteries almost everyday.
I thought it was the install at first but I installed the same in another friend's car and she has no problem with her remote killing AAA batteries.
Does any know why this could be happening? Is this a common problem amongst these 2-way remotes?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Most 2-way remotes eat batteries, but the 479V is the worst of all of them. 1 AAA not even last for 1 week on mine. How long it will last is depend on what kind of cell you're using. But one a day seems to be to much too me.

The batteries on those usually last about 4 weeks. I'm guessing a bad remote.

Does this adversely affect the security in anyway?

I checked the 791xv manual but couldn't find it. How do I program the display illumination off?

the default is OFF so just take the battery out for 1 minute and put it back in and the illum will be off.... the big juice gobbler is the paging feature...on the Clifford SSR display car we have here i programmed the paging feature off and i get about 6 months from the battery on that remote now.....
