Hi,

I'm in the process of installing the 2wss-as into my 97 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T. The car is a 5-speed manual. Everything is going pretty smooth but there are a couple of things I'm wondering about.

1) On the main harness coming out of the brain (CM1) there is a yellow wire that is supposed to go out to the starter wire on the ignition harness, but it goes into the center of the relay, then comes back out, and there is another yellow/black wire coming out. I currenly have the yellow hooked into the starter on the ignition harness but where does the yellow/black wire go?

2) My car has the OEM Keyless Entry/Alarm still. I'm adding the extra security because the car was recently broken into, and the theives simply punched the lock in and turned the key, which disables the stock alarm. If I interface the OEM with the Compustar, would the Compustar be disabled if the key were to be turned? Should I just disable the stock alarm completely?

3) Where should I put the brain...lol. I looked all around, and I've installed an alarm before into an Eclipse but I don't remember it being so cramped...

Thanks in advance.

1. You have to cut the starter wire in half. Wire the YELLOW wire to the starter side of the cut wire and wire the YELLOW/BLACK wire to the switch side of the starter wire.

2. No, the only way to disarm the Compustar alarm system is through the Compustar remote controls.

3. Try hidding it either in the center of the dash or behind the glove box.

Also if you are in a paranoid mode since your car got breaked in...
I am living in montreal known to be the canadian capital for car thiefs.
We recently had a wave of stolen Hummer. The thieves proceed mostly always the same way. The force or punch the outside lock to trigger the disarm wire from the factory car alarm and then for GM they drill under the ignition barell in order to put pressure on the lock sidebar to then pick this one and defeat the passloc.

What i did for a couple clients was simply to cut the disarm wire coming from both front doors of their Hummer. This had as a result defeat some thiefs because they ran away when the heard loud horn of the alarm when it goes off. I wish I could see their face punched the lock as usual but no disarm .....

I put the disarm from the aftermarket alarm to trigger the oem disarm wire.

Also I recomend that you disable the feature from the Compustar wich is the ignition valet. This feature allow the user to disarm the alarm by quickly cycling the ignition on and off 5 times .

your choice is good to go with Compustar for a reliable alarm.

Hi again and thanks for the replies. I wired up the remote start as you said and found a decent place to hide the brain. Everything is almost finished but I have another question.

I wired up the door unlock and lock as was shown in my diagram, to the BROWN / blue (did not see an all brown wire, digram said to use this one for drive unlock) and BROWN / white wires at the relay behind the radio in the center dash. When I lock is both sides lock and the drivers door makes a sort of groaning sound. I tried it with the OEM key fob and it does not make the sound. The passenger door will not unlock when I unlock it.

On the previous install I did into an Eclipse and a few months later I had to replace the door motors for the locks, so I'm thinking that the locks are being over driven.

Do I need to do something special to hook them up correctly?

the wires are BROWN / white and brown

they can be found in the drivers kick panel, or coming out of the door in the door harness

I have done a couple of these and I have had no problem with the locks

I saw a brown and BROWN / white wire in the drivers kick but I couldn't get to the wires. I'll try again I guess.

Do I need to wire relays for the lock/unlock?

Thanks for all the help guys.

I now have everything wired up except for the oem arm/disarm. I tried finding the GREEN / WHITE(disarm) and GREEN/ YELLOW(arm) at the passengers kick. I did find A GREEN/ YELLOW but when I metered it and activated the oem nothing happened. There are only maybe a total of 5 wires that are GREEN / WHITE under there also, so I don't know which one is the one I need. Is there another place to tap into the factory alarm wires or should I just disable it?

Thanks again!

Also,

Most people say the stock alarm module is behind the dash or the glove box compartment, but I found a module in the back seat on the drivers side that says "Key Entry" on it. I tried tracing the wires but couldn't find the ones I need there...

lol...and I just had another question...on the headlight connection, do I need to use a diode when I hook this up? Currently it doesn't have one on it...

Alright I have everything wired up and its working great. Found the oem arm/disarm wire.

I'm still curious to know if I need to put diodes on any of the connections. For instance, I read in another post on here that I must diode isolate the door lock/unlock wires. Anyone know if this is true?

don't know here you found that info from but you don't need to diode isolate anything in this vehicle

and for future referance the way you test for the oem alarm and disarm wires is that you have to turn the key in the lock cylinder on the outside of the car if you use the wires in the driver kick panel

if you use the wires in the passenger kick panel you have to turn the key in the passenger side door lock cylinder

Ok thanks.

I knew how to test for them I just couldn't find the right damn wire. Have it all figured out now though and the alarm is working great.

Thanks for all the help everyone.
