I had a viper 130xv installed in our 1998 ford explorer back in 2003 now it doesn't work I changed the battery in the remote I think the battery is good because it illuminates the little green sensor light when you press the buttons but nothing works (lock/unlock, or starter * buttons)I've read some forums where you can reprogram the remote but I don't know how or could it be somthing else.

Here is a link to your system's manual. It will show you how to reprogram the remotes. Have you tried simply disconnecting the vehicle's battery? Sometimes a simple reset will fix the issue.

Keep us posted.

I have not tried removing the battery cable but I do know that I had to replace the battery about 4 months ago and i'm not sure if the remote starter worked at that time could replacing the battery have done somthing. I looked at the instalation guide and every way they tell you to reprogram tells you to press the programing button This may sound stupid but I have'nt located the programing button yet.

I would try the battery disconnect/reconnect first.

The programming switch is typically mounted somewhere low on the driver's side of the vehicle, but I have seen them taped to harnesses to avoid drilling extra holes in the vehicle.

I figured out it's the remote itself when I took the cover off the little clip that holds the battery in place fell off so I put it back in and giggled it around while pressing the button and it worked once so I tried soldering it back in place but I cant get it to work again any ideas on where to get another remote cheap.

The safest place to buy another remote would be from your local dealer. This way if it is defective, or if you have any issues with programming, they will stand behind it.

The cheaper alternative is the obvious...Ebay.

Ahh I love the old DEI remotes with that crappy battery holder.  I've had to resolder so many of those those things I've become a pro at it.  The only thing you have to watch out for when resoldering the terminal is that the copper trace doesn't break off the circuit board.  IF it does that will make it very difficult for you to repair the remote.
