Hey guys!
I am in the process of installing an aftermarket car alarm since the Honda dealership wanted 600 bucks for their alarm. The car is a 2001 honda civic with a keyless entry. I am attempting to install the Hornet 700T which uses the original keyless buttons. In the install manual, there are some "buzz words" that I need help in deciphering:
what is a domelight supervision output - I need a relay for it?
what is a multiplex tripper, input ?
what do they mean about a ZONE 1,2,3,4,5?
what is the difference between instant trigger and door trigger
And there is a section about different ways to install wirings on a keyless entry system -internal relays vs. edternal relays vs. without drivers priority etc.
Can any one clue me? HELP!!!
Hey Roxy,
Lets start with item number one: domelight supervision = domelights come on when doors are unlocked with remote. Yes you need a relay as it is only 200 ma. This wire drives a relay which is connected to door pinswitch.
Multiplexed input means that if it receives a signal that has a length of 0.8 seconds it interprets this as a warnaway and if the signal is one second or longer then it goes into full alert. If both wires of a 508D microwave sensor are connected in parallel on this wire it will automatically differentiate between outer and inner zones. Can be used for trunk pin switch.
ZONE 1,2,3,4,5 = Different input circuits. Zone 1is hood, Zone 2 is shock. Zone 3 is door, Zone 5 is ignition trigger......
Door trigger siren starts with chirps first then goes into usual sequence.
Trunk trigger siren goes into full alert without delay.
The green and the blue wires go to the two lock motor wires. Green goes to the yellow/black in the back of the fusebox in the top left plug. The blue goes to the YELLOW /GREEN at the same location. In the same plug as the blue and green wires there is a red ( disarm defeat ) connect this to the yellow wire in the same plug as the yellow/black and YELLOW /GREEN.
Not a easy one!

Hey Big Dog!
thanks for the input. Muliplexed input - I just have a unit with a sensor built in...what is 508D?
Getting back about the wiring for the door lock inputs, the hornet manual as several diagrams showing different ways of wiring a typical vehicles such as Domestic vs an Import. My question is how to wire a import vehicle such as honda with a keyless entry. There are four wires from the alarm module Red- disarm defeat input, Green-arm input, White-(-) 200 passive lock input and Blue-disarm input. It is a little confusing! Thanks for the help.

Just to add to what Big Dog has, you have a transponder key that needs to be bypassed. There is a small chip in the ignition key called a transponder. When the key is inserted into the ignition switch it sends a code to the vehicles computer through a receiver coil mounted to the barrel. Once the computer has identified it as a valid key, it enables the starter and fuel management systems.

Jeff:
thanks for the update, how does one bypass the transponder in a honda civic?
thanks
roxy
You need to buy a transponder bypass kit . There are two different types, one that requires a spare key and one that does not . Both are the same price but the you will need to spend the money on a spare key for one of the transponder's.
