For those of you who are having false alarms with Fords that have the GEM that shuts down the battery voltage to your door pin switches and such, I found an easier way than to run all of these diodes to each an every individual door pin.
I had the same problem with a Crimestopper alarm. I called technical support, and talked to Larry, who seemed very knowledgeable on this subject. He told me of a very simple fix.
He said that if I had a light down in the driver's kick panel that came on when EVERY door was opened, all I had to do was wire a relay into that. If I didn't have the light, I could wire into the dome light, and it would take care of the problem.
Here is what you do:
Take your relay and run 87 to your (-) door trigger input on your alarm. Number 30 goes to your ground. Then take 85 and 86, and run one to each side of the light (one + and one -). This will cure your problem, rather than having to wire 2 diodes in line for every single door pin switch. If you do not have the light near the floor by the driver's kick panle that turns on when EVERY door is opened, then use the dome light that comes on when EVERY door is opened. Remember to check each door {b}separately{/b] to make sure that it triggers this light. You may have to give it a few seconds for th elight to shut off if you have a delayed dome light.
This makes it so much easier than the other way I have read. Here is what you do:
If anyone needs it, I have the PDF file that shows how to wire this relay, but hopefully I detalied my description well enough. Good Luck!
I know I am a newbie when it comes to posting (been a member for quite some time), but felt I needed to share this information, and hopefully help some poor soul who is banging their head with this same subject, just like I was doing.
Also, kudos to the site owners, and administrators, who run a very well informed website, from where I have gathered much, much imformation that has helped me along the way!

By the way, I was installing my alarm on a 1996 Ford Windstar, if that is helpful to anyone for reference. Rusty ------------- What if there were no hypothetical questions? - George Carlin

Great info. Rusty! Post the PDF file as well if you can. I am sure someone getting stuck on this vehicle will greatly appreciate the info. you have posted up. ------------- Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.

You can either tie the 2 grounds together as shown and then ground to a common ground, or just hook 85 to the (+) side of the light, and 86 to the (-) side, and then ground 30. Whichever way is easier. I am asumming this would work with any other Ford's that have this same type of GEM that controls the door pin switches/lights this way. Heck, it may even work for other cars, but I have no way to test it. I am a do-it-yourself mechanic, not a pro. If anyone else runs across this with a Mustang or F150 or any other Ford, post it here. I would like to know myself for future reference. If the image quality doesn't come out to well, let me know, and I can send the original PDF file. I had to crop and resize it so that it would fit in the alloted size requirement.

been doing this for a long time now. no relay though, every alarm i've installed has both positive or negative door trigger inputs. only flaw this has is you will pick up the dome light delay on a lot of the newer vehicles. i.e - when you shut the door, the domelight stays on for X amount of seconds before shutting off.

Yeah, mine has the dome light delay on it also, but my alarm has the option to set the dome light delay for either 5 seconds or 60 seconds. I think a lot of alarms have this option for the dome light delay. Like I said, I am no professional installer, just thought this would help. A buddy of mine installed alarms on both his personal truck and his work truck (both F150's), and he said it had worked for him. I guess it would be different for each vehicle, depending on features. ------------- What if there were no hypothetical questions? - George Carlin

I have a 05 mustang and yes I have the stupid problem with the gem falling asleep and then triggering the alarm in the middle of the night all I did was get the driver door trigger in a large loom above the gas pedal and the passenger door trigger right by the SJB, diode isolated these wires and it worked perfect
