Subject: How to disarm a car alarm, Steal Stopper

I bought a used 89 Toyota Pickup with an after-market alarm system (Steal Stopper, Model 70). The alarm was disarmed when I got the vehicle. Recently the car battery was disconnected for a couple weeks. After reconnecting the battery, the car alarm became armed. It¡¯s preventing me from starting the engine.

I am looking for ways to disarm or remove the alarm. I don't have the remote for the alarm. Thanks for your help.

Try:

Find the Valet switch.
Turn Ignition Key ON
Press & Hold Valet Switch for 2 seconds.........

Thanks for the info. How to find the valet switch, and what¡¯s the color of the wires connected to the switch? I doubt I will find a switch. If I know the color of the wires, can I try short the wires?

I found the brain/module box. There's quite a few wires attached to it, some are floating (not connceted). Couldn't find the valet switch. I am not sure if this model has a valet switch, or if the switch was connected. Need some confirmation on the wire color to identify valet switch wires.

The alarm model is Steal Stopper Model 70. Can I get a wiring diagram of it somewhere? Thanks.

Did it solve the problem? I am in the same boat and don't have a clue. I have a Jeep Cherokee with the Clifford Concept 20. I used the remote to arm the security system and now the remote won't disarm it. I changed the remote battery so it's not that. If I open the doors with the key the alarm will sound and the car will be disabled. I'm pretty lost in terms of what to do.

Try the valet switch. It should work.

What I did was find the brain and unplug it, since I don't need the alarm.
