Installed a blackwidow interface alarm on a 2000 dodge dakota which just came out of a body shop after a theft recovery. I accidently cut the thin yellow wire on the ignition harness instead of the thicker yellow for starter disable.
After realizing my mistake,i joined the thin yellow wire and used the thick yellow wire(starter).
Afterwards i noticed the check engine light on and i disconnected the battery terminal to reset the code and it did not do any good.I also noticed that both the battery terminals were loose prior and so was the air intake ducts.
Would cutting the thin yellow wire have done this and if so,shouldnt disconnecting the battery terminal reset the light?Would the loose battery terminals and air intake system have caused this?
Any info towards this be much appreciated.thanks.

Or a mechanic with a code scanner.  Most auto parts sotres will scan your vehicle for you and tell you what the code is.  WE in my area they will anyway.

Most of the time you can re-set the engine light by dis-connecting the battery for at least 10 min. to discharge the capacitors which help the memory in the computer for a little while.
