I am installing an alarm/RS into a 2005 Pathfinder SE. This really is just a question about the 556UW bypass module.

Question: Is the ring method my only choice for installing the bypass?

I have researched the Pathfinder factory service manual and it appears that this vehicle does not have a two wire factory transponder ring. The ring goes into an antenna amp and then four wires to the BCM. There are two red wires that come from something in the ignition column and again go directly to the BCM. If there were a factory transceiver module...I have not found it yet either.

Any info would be helpful.

I know Bypasskit has that but it's a little hard to get where live. The 556UW is my only option.

I must not have understood your question.

If I have it right now...NO to my knowledge there is no other way to use a ring based bypass without using the ring.

The only solution to get around using a ringed bypass, is the data piece. This piece is available from several online retailers. These pieces are marketed under several different manufacturer's names. Doing a websearch for the part number turned up 3 resellers on the first page.

Thanks for the lookup.

I've found a solution...around the whole outside ignition assembly (the part you see when your dash is all put together) is a trim ring which can be hollowed out some using a dremel or a hobby knife. I unrapped the covering over the DEI antenna, shortened it by folding it over and expoxy it in place so its permanent. The DEI antenna is just outside and a little behind the factory location. Looks and works like OEM ie. no DEI antenna visible on the outside.
