1.  i've been reading alot about bulldog security alarms and remote starts, they seem more than decent to me... only one problem i dont think they dont make remote starters for manual tranny cars... if i bought the remote starter but its for an automatic tranny i would like to know if there would  be a way to convert it w/ relays or somehow work w/ my manual tranny car

2. second question on remote starters, i read that for some remote starters like one my friend bought it has an oil light wire to sense how long to crank the engine instead of a tach wire... to me that really sucks, but i was wondering if anyone knew of any other place i could tap into to get the same signal that turns on when u start the car a couple of seconds then automatically shuts off so it wont over rev the starter...someone told me a reference signal but im cluless... also i heard on some cheap china alarms the remote start would disable the abs somehow on thor remote starters thats y i know prefer american alarms... is there any truth to that article i read???

thanks guys u make wiring so much easier!!!

1. NEVER use a remote start desined for an automatic transmission in a manual! There are plenty of online retailers that sell systems designed for manual transmissions, and are willing to warranty the unit if you put it in yourself.

2. The tachometer connection is alot simpler than you may think. In most vehicles finding an injector wire is really just a matter of looking at the injector rails and finding the odd colored wire. That being said, if you are doing a self install, most systems offer voltage sensing as a way to let the starter know the vehicle is running. This method is easier to install because it does not require running a tachometer connection. However long term reliability can become an issue as the vehicle ages, if you install the system yourself this is not too big of a deal. You would eventually have to increase the starter crank time via a programming menu when the vehicle no longer starts as quick as when the system was first installed.

thanks that cleared up my first question

on the second question if the oil light or volt sensing wire is jus that a volt sensing wire would it be possible to connect it to the ignition wire instead of the oil light wire... yeah ive worked on cars and checked injector pulse width so its really not to hard to connect to the injector wires jus a longer wire thats all... i heard the car cranks til the voltage senses that the car is on or the switch turns on such as the oil light switch and then stops cranking ... yeah as the car ages the starter gets worn and sometimes takes longer to crank so true, this oil light thing is really new to me if anybody had anymore info i would so appreciate it!!!! thanks!!!

I would have to think that you would be able to hook it up to the ignition wire, but that to me seems just like voltage sensing. The remote start is providing the voltage to the ignition circuit, so I would have to think that it is monitoring for voltage increase, not just voltage at the circuit.

You can not use an ignition wire as the alternator sensing wire because the system is looking for a 1-6 volt with the ignition ON and when running it is looking for a 9-14 volt. The ignition wire is a 12-14 volt in the ON position regardless so the RS unit will think that the car is already started because it's receiving a 12-14 volt signal right off the hop.

Look for the alternator and there will be a stator wire somwhere on the alternator. It will usually be a smaller gauge wire and genrally by itself. Test this wire to the characteristics listed above and connect this wire to the oil sensing light wire of the RS.

thanks i'll go do that!!!

one more question if i hook up a tach wire from the remote start do i hook up to the wire that is constant 12 volts as in imports or the ground wire the one that senses pulse width or turns on and off when the fuel injector is energized... i know all the injectors have a constant 12 volts at one wire and the other wire is always on and off... thanks guys ... if u guys can tell me how the tach wire works id appreciate it!!! rookie for ya... LOL!!!
