I recently purchased a 94 Ford Explorer with an UltraStart Remote starter. Occassionally the truck will not start and gives a No-Tach Signal, sometimes won't start until I mess with getting into valet mode then out of valet mode & programing this is very difficult. I downloaded a manual for model 1275 but not sure this is the unit installed, looks like it from the description of the features it has. Anybody help with the no start and programing?
Check the power wire and the main ground wire to make sure neither are loose. It shouldn't lose tach settings unless the unit is losing power.

Do your lights flash 7 times when it fails to start? If so this is tach lock out. This means its going through start cycle but its not starting, check tach connection? to remove from tach lock out start the vehicle with the key. Let us know if this info helps you out...I would try to find out exactly what model you have also..

Sounds like you need to take the underdash apart and check over the install. If it's butt connected and t tapped, tug on all wire connections to verify a good connection like iskidoo recommended, also check your tach signal connection at ignition coil and make sure there aren't any splices along the wire under the hood. Sometimes you need to extend them to reach tach source. If the whole thing is a hack job, find authorized ultrastart installer to repair. Goto www.ultrastarters.com for install manual for your model. should say on back of module. also could be a bad module, so if you have too much time into it, take it in and they are pretty good about warranties. I'm in MI so pm me if you live around here.

My rifle is my friend...
It's cold here this week, I'll dig into it this weekend and let you know. I didn't see any extra wires going to the tach, it might be hooked up for tachless mode, if so, I'll see about wiring this thing for a tach and reprogram it. More to come.
Thanks for all of the replies, great suggestions.
