Hey, I'm sure you guys get this a lot, and I apologize, but I've done a lot of research and I just wanted to ask for one final opinion. I'm putting an alarm into my car, I want it to be top of the line, money is not my main concern. I want to make sure my car is secure and convenient. I'd prefer to have proximity sensors and also additional outputs for sirens and on the remote, to have buttons to do non-alarm related activities (like roll down windows, etc). Remote start & unlock is a must, 2 way function is not necessary, although preferred. I wanted to get personal experience stories of alarms that you guys have tried and trust and would recommend. So please let me know. Thank you so much, I'm really excited about hoppin into this project, I just wanna make sure I'm happy in the end.

My suggestion is for the Compustar 2W8000FM-AS or the 2W900FM-AS. Proximity sensor can be added onto the system along with the supplied impact sensor. There are 2 AUX channels and you can add an additional channels with the channel expander. Installation is complicated but not impossible for a DIY'er but realize that there's no warranty if installed by someone that isn't an authorized Compustar installer. The rangeof the Canadian versions is about 5000 feet and I can vouch for this being accurate. In the end the alarm is only as good as the installation, this is something to keep in mind when choosing a system.

To repeat what Velocity said, the alarm is only as good as the installation. You could have the best alarm system in the world and if it is not properly installed it will give you nothing but headaches.

Please take this as just an opinion, as I am sure there are many people that will have different thoughts on this.

My preference is the DEI products, you can get them in all different flavors with and without 2-way. The 564T from Valet is a 2-way system with 2 aux outs and you can add a channel expander to, as well as a proximity sensor. The 563T from Valet is the same system without a 2-way option and less money. The Valet brand is a non-protected line so it will be easier to find, same quality just a different labeling. Again though this system will not come with a warranty if you do it yourself. There are alot of companies and retailers that will warranty a do it yourself job, I have done several of the Sytek/Galaxy/Astra/Asianwolf (whatever someone decides to label it as) remote starters, and although I would not consider them high-end by any standard, they have all performed and lasted quite well. With a warranty to the do it yourselfer.

okay, well, i had a dandy time playin on ebay tryin to mix and match stuff to suit my needs. Although I liked the compustar's remote better (way more pimp), I decided to go with the 564T. I also am a big fan of DEI, and they create the add-ons that I wanted, so I figured I'd be on the safe side for integration purposes. I'm gonna get that alarm, a power supply backup, proximity sensor, and also a pain generator for inside the car. That stacks my bill up sorta high, but I figured it's a smaller price than what could be stolen out of my car. Thanks guys for your input, I promise to do a damn good install to make sure that my super sweet alarm gives me happiness, not headaches.
