my 99 ford truck came with an astroflex astrostart model 1000 and no book. both fuses were pulled in it so i replaced them, the diode is intermittenly blinking but i think since i unplugged the unit i reset the programming.
does anyone know how to program the remote withthe unit?
If you put the fuses back in.....find the brain, there are several "dip swiches" on it. Flip # 8 up, hit the brake, push unlock on the transmitter....the unit should flash the LED on the brain and cycle unlock. Flip the dip down....then hit the brake.....if it was installed correctly and theres is NO other problem....the transmitter is now re learned. Good Luck.

cool thanks tune man, i talked to a dude at a shop who told me to do that so i did the led flashed 5 he said that was a hood switch deal and to do the same with #7 so i did then it would crank but theft kept blinking on the dash so because of the encoded key i tried it with the key in the ignition , no start theft was still flashing so he told me because it was a 99 ford with the triton engine there was an encoder bypass module in the dash and if i disconnected it and had the key in the ignition it would start so i did and it started. the om-ford-1 transponder module is unhooked and the start is working fine. i checked the 12 volt power to the om1 and the ground and it was ok and when you check ground to the green wire and hit start it shows a .6 volt signal coming to the bypass module is it possible that the code for my anti theft has been erased from my om-ford-1 module? or does the module just go bad? also when i hit unlock or lock on the transmitter the parking lights flash but the doors do not unlock or lock can i reprogram that too? also i was told that i need a second antitheft key for reprogramming somthing is this true?
If the hood pin switch is not functioning properly....it won't start. should be a normally open setting...the pin "closes" when the hood opens creating a ground =no start.
If you try to remote start with the key in the ignition AND the one in the transpoder box = no start. It cannot start while seeing 2 keys. disconnect the transponder, then try it with the key in the cylinder. You might also try to program one of the outputs for "ground while running" to trigger the transponder. You might try and "reprogram the om-ford 1 PM me with your email address and Ill send you a manual...its a big file.
Yes...the modules do go bad
