I installed a 561T and a GM-SL module on a '04 Silverado.  I am under the impression that the GM-SL will kick on the heated seats, heated mirrors and rear defroster if the outside temp is below 32.  We have gotten down into the upper 20s here recently and I haven't seen anything kick on.  First do the indication lights for the seats or rear defroster come on when this is done?  Second, is there a way to trick the computer into thinking the temp is lower than 32 to test it out?  I know the sensor for the rear view mirror is in front of the radiator, but I wasn't sure what sensor the GM-SL used.  I thought it could be the engine coolant temp sensor as well.  Thanks for the help.

GM-SL?  Who makes this, and where do you get it?  I've been trying to figure out a way to kick on my seat heaters with the auto start for a while now, with no luck.  I'd like to check this thing out, especially if you can get it to work, sorry though, not any help.

I have a Viper 791 and a GM-SL on my 04 avalanche and when r/s the heated seats turn on low when the engine temp is below 32 and the indicator light on the doors do come on. https://bypasskits.fortinautoradio.com/

Is there anything special I have to do to the GM-SL to make the heated functions work?

Just wait until engine temp is below freezing- the old GM-U7 also did this- have had one on an '04 Silverado for over a year with no complaints.............

I have tried it with the temp in the mid 20s and nothing.  I didn't change any of the special programming that allows you to enable or disable the different heated functions.  I might check to see that they are all enabled.  Any other ideas?

Mid 20's isn't freezing enough.... think closer to 10ish (I know the seats and things turn on on these trucks below -5C up here, which is around 10F.)

Does anyone know if the brown accessory 2 wire needs to be hooked up to make the heated seats work?

Does the module work on engine temperature from the car's databus....... or the temperature of the module itself?

Why not place the module in a household freezer, then quickly bring it to the car, plug it in, program it, and remote start?

You might tape a towel around the module before putting it in the freezer, so that your hands won't warm it up while re-installing it.

My understanding is it uses the engine coolant temperature.  I could be wrong.

The note at the bottom of the application guide on crimestopper.com (databus manuals) says:

"heated seats will turn on low power if the engine temp is below 32 def f when started"

The brown accessory wire does not need to be powered during R/S

So now I am back to square one.  I have started it when the outside temp was below 32 degrees and the truck had been sitting all night (I would think that would be enough time for the engine coolant to cool down).  I am thinking about taking the plug for the temp sensor off and complete the circuit with a resistor that would make the truck think it is 10 or 0 degrees.  If that doesn't kick them on I don't know what will.  Anyone else got an idea, I am running out.
