I understand the concept of the 5 wire system. I tried using a DEI 451m on my locks but got no response from the vehicle. I installed a viper 550 alarm/remote start on this vehicle. The only problem I am having is the power locks. The color codes for the wires that were given to me from the dealer are as follows:  power lock: RED / black   power unlock: tan (drivers door) gray/black (passenger door)

When I hooked it up this way I blew a fuse. I then tried to hook it up using the RED / black (lock) and the ORANGE / black (unlock) wires and nothing happened. I could see the wires were coming from the door switch, so I am pretty sure they were hooked up right. This is not my first alarm on a camaro. I hooked up the same setup on a 94 camaro without a problem (3 years ago!). What am I doing wrong? Also, this is not a big deal yet, but how do I disarm the factory alarm? Thank you.

Here is the wire colors:

Lock                  RED / Black

unlock               ORANGE / Black                  Your vehicle has a RAP (retained Accessory Power unit)  It allows the radio and other accessorys to work after the engine is turned off untila door is opened.  Run your green lock wire straight to the wire in the vehicle. Then get you two 1 amp diodes at Radio shack.  Run the unlock wire to a diode with the white band facing the alarm.  Run the other side of the diode to the unlock wire.  Take the 2nd diode and run it from the same unlock wire(facing the same way) to the Gray/Black door trigger wire found at the bcm unit behind the passengers dash.  That should fix you up.  If you have any more questions post them.  Brian

Sorry I didnt make it too clear.  When I say "run the unlock wire to the diode" I mean the unlock wire from the alarm system. for the second diode you will tie the diode to the same wire from the alarm system. then to the door trigger wire.    Brian

Your lock wire is a (-) trigger and your UNLOCK wire is a 5 wire type C . Did you have each wires set up this way ?

Are you saying the LOCK  wire was not suppose to be wired in the 451m relay? I cut the UNLOCK and LOCK wires. When I cut the RED / BLACK wire, the locks would not LOCK. When I cut the ORANGE / BLACK wire, the locks would not UNLOCK. I also tried cutting the TAN wire, but that only disabled the driver locks, not affecting the passneger side at all. I cut the GRAY/BLACK wire and it disabled the passenger locks, not affecting the driver side at all. I had the LOCK wire going to the WHITE/ BLACK (#87a) and the GREEN/ BLACK (#30) wires of the relay. I had the UNLOCK wire going to the BROWN / BLACK (#87a) and the BLUE/BLACK (#30) wires of the relay. The VIOLET/BLACK (#87) wire was ran to a solid 12v+ source. I plugged the 3 pin harness in at the brain. Why do you think the ORANGE / BLACK wire was not listed on the wiring info from DEI since this is the UNLOCK wire?

The RED / BLACK wire does not need to be cut at all. Just needs a (-) current to lock the doors. The TAN wire will unlock the drivers door and the GRAY/BLACK will unlock the passenger door. Wire each as a 5-wire system with separate relays. ORANGE /BLACK is not a door lock trigger wire. This is probably the GROUND or the POSITIVE wire needed for the circuit to be able to operate.
