i installed an avistart 4100 yesterday using a 556u immobilizer bypass. the car remote starts, but after about 15 seconds the dash display says "immobilizer activated". the car keeps running, and will drive fine, but the customer called me today and said that their alarm goes off every time they try to use the remote start. i used the second alternate wiring on the 556u, where you cut the factory immobilizer wires and splice. any ideas?

Did you power the keysense wire as an ignition wire? I believe it needs to be connected in this car. I haven't worked on a recent VW in a while though.

Did you hook up the factory alarm disarm wire from the 4100 to the unlock wire in the car?

- You checked the valet key by using it to start the car first, right? These cars will drop a key once in a while....

- You don't need the keysense or the ignition input of the 556u

- May as well pull into the door, do doorlocks and trunk while you are in there. You need to unlock the driver's door before crank to disarm.

And don't whine because you need to go into the door.... you have to. Period. The wires you need aren't in the car. They are in the door. It's 5 screws. It's one of the easier car to run into the door out there. Waaaayyy easier than a Honda, especially the new ones.

- Where is your jumper in the 556 set at? Set it to max. windings. Where did you intercept the twisted green and black antenna wires? If you are on the green wire, try switching to the black wire.

i tried to find the doorlock wires, but nothing i checked seemed to work. i tried about all of the RED / blue and RED / green wires i could find in the door, and i already hooked up the trunk off of the comfort module. i think i did use the green wire for the immobilizer, but the key would barely fit in the 556, already set on max windings. are there any bypasses that will fit a vw key? the key i used, too, was the key i drove it to the shop with. i'll try the black wire and see if i can find the lock/unlock wires. i was checking right off of the door module, and couldn't get anything to respond. thans for the suggestions.

I had to cut a slot in the side of the 556 I used on a jetta to allow the top of the key to stick out a little bit. Just take a dremel or something similar and notch the plastic case of the 556 to allow the part where the keyring attaches to stick out

i found the problem; the key pulled one of the leads off the circuit board when i squeezed it through the holder, so i had to extend it back to the board, and have not had any problems since.
