hello,

im trying to install my clifford alarm.  the only problem is that i can't get the door locks to actuate.

- when i put a makita battery to the door locks (both doors) they work fine, lock and unlock.

- when i measure voltage coming out of the clifford ECU i get +12 volts and -12 volts as i arm and disarm the alarm

- as soon as i hook up the wires from the clifford unit to the door locks, the voltage drops to 1 or 2 volts

- checked all door lock wires to ground, NO continuity, NO short to ground

what the freak is going on?  can someboday help me?

Did you wire them like what is on this page? The output from the clifford alarm is more than likely just a trigger output. Most, if not all DEI units provide an alternating output for doorlocks, but these outputs are not nearly enough power to control actuators. They are only strong enough to activate relays.

set your relays as twelvoltz said...5 wire reversal.. the alarm is only a trigger.

you'll pay a fortune at radio shack the probably won't have the harnesses...try your local car audio shops
