ok, when i press the remote start button, it does all the normal routine, but when it cranks the engine, the engine starts, but the starter keeps clicking and winding up.  Then the starter stops and the car is idling, but then the whole car shuts off, and it retries to start the car.  The weird thing about it is that it does not do it every time... sometimes it starts right up without a problem, and othertimes the starter keeps clicking after the car has started... is this just a problem with the wiring or the alarm, or could it just be the brain freaking out?  someone told me that it might be the tach wire?  if so how would i go about fixing this?  any info will help!  thanks!

Model number of remote start system and make/model year of car please.

Do you know how the installation was done? Do you know if it was installed as voltage sensing or tachometer sensing? This behaviour is typical of a system that was hooked up to monitor the tachometer but is not recieving a good tach signal.

Sounds like its in tachless mode and hooking up tach wire is the best way to fix.

The tachometer connection that we are referring to would be a wire that monitors AC voltage and lets the starter know that the vehicle is running. It is the same wire that tells your aftermarket tach what your rpms are.

Is there a wire from the remote start going to the same wire as the one to your aftermarket tach? If there is and the connection is still solid then you would just relearn the tach via programming on the remote start.
