I have a Hornet 727T on my 2006 Grand Marquis. The brain went south on me so I ordered a new one. Now my dilemna is that I was in the process of setting it up and I didn't read the instructions fast enough but was able to program the lock button on the remote which also arms the unit. I had not programmed the unlock button yet which also disarms the unit. Now the system is armed and I cannot disarm it to program the disarm button since the system has to be inactive to do any programming.I tried unplugging it from the power to see if it would reset but no dice.I can't even seem to disarm it with the valet button.Any help would be deeply appreciated. I am beginning to think that maybe these keyless upgrades are not so good but I didn't want two contrlollers hanging on my key chain.

" if the unlock was unsuccesfull, the unlock procedure can be repeated by usinf the LOCK procedure, except at step 4 press and release the valet button twice, the led will flash in groups of 2 flashes.

Thanks for the reply...My problem is that the unit is in alarm and I can't get it out of the alarm state or armed state even if I use the valet button and it won't allow me to do anything while it is in alarm or armed.

to turn off the alarm by valet you only have a FEW SECONDS to turn IGN on press the valet button 1-5 times what ever it was set at.

also do you have the valet set up as a ghost switch.

Make sure the IGN wire from alarm is hook up to an IGN source. doulbe check amek sure you got volts at the alarm brain whne turn to IGN.

What was wrong with the old brian?

First ,I would like to thank you for taking the time to help me....I realise that I have a few seconds to set the valet and I know I did it correctly by turning the ignition switch to on and then pressing the valet button once within a few seconds which is the default setting but it just kept alarming...I'm don't know what you mean by a ghost switch..This is a brand new brain out of the box...The old one was working fine at my brothers house as I left and then I made a stop at the grocery store. When I went to disarm it I realised that it had not armed this time......I even tried arming it actively but it wouldn't arm that way either..I figured the brain was bad because some features still worked like the locking of the doors when I start the engine. so I figure it's getting power..I also recognized that I did not get a warning indicating a zone was active when I tried to arm it actively. So I ordered a new brain and you know the rest...Once again Thanks

the valet switch can be set up as a "ghost switch" meanign ( lets use the brake as an example) you have the have the brake press in in order for the valet to work.

who did the the install. if you did im sure you knwo if how you hook up the valet.

check you connections and see if you have power on the yellow wire on the alarm only when the IGN is turn on.

make sure the valet is plug in all the way. unplug it and plug it back in.

The valet is set up like it came out of the box so therefor it's not set up as a ghost switch now that you explained what that is...I just checked for voltage on the yellow wire when the ignition is in the on position and I had 12 volts....This is really wierd

do you have another valet switch. if not test the switch with a meter.

I got everything to work just fine finally..I'm not sure where the problem was but I suspect that I wasn't plugging in the main harness all the way in and thereby not allowing that yellow wire to make good contact and preventing the valet from working.. It's tricky making changes to the setup but I managed thanks to you and all your help...I want to thank you very much for all your help..
