I have a 2002 Suburban and my battery went dead while I was changing the steering column. I don’t have the remote. Is it possible to disarm the alarm.

Hi, there is not an aftermarket alarm. The car does crank but doesn't start.I did unknowingly unhook the BCM from the vehicle which I was told was very wrong think to do. I was trying to fiberglass my dash so I unhook the steering column also. Thanks a lot, your info and help is very appreciative.

What I did: (in order)
unhooked the steering column
unhooked the BCM
battery went dead
reconnected column/BCM
car wouldn't start but cranks
*note* I did try to start the truck without the BCM connected and it started for two seconds and cut right off.

What is the security light on the dash doing?

Try leaving the key in the on position for 10 minutes then try to start it again.

Keep us posted.

Here what ive done, I changed the steering column with a new one, unhook the bcm and aftermarket alarm. I hook up the new column and reconnected the bcm and the truck wouldn't start. When I unhook the bcm the trucks starts and shuts right back off, so I figure my problem lies in the BCM. What can I do or could it be another problem?

If you changed the steering column, I take it that also changed the igniton switch as well?  If it did that's the problem.  The bcm is expecting tosee a specific code from the keycylinder.  IF it doesn't get that signal the bcm cuts power to the fuel pump cuasing the engine to stall.  You'll have to reprogram the new key cylinder to the bcm to get the truck running properly again.  Unfortunately I don't remember how to do it.  I know someone posted the info a while back for another person.  Of course there's always the option of taking the truck to teh stealership.....

If I put the old steering column back in will the bcm need reprograming as well? If I put an aftermarket alarm on it will it disarm the alarm or do I still have to reprogram the bcm with the aftermarket alarm?

T reprogram the bcm for a new passlock value, just put the key in and leave it for 10 minutes. Turn the key off. Turn the key on and leave it for another 10 minutes. Turn the key off. Turn the key on again and leave it for 10-15 minutes. After doiung that 3 times, the car should start.

I was wonder if I hook up a remote start with the gm bypass will the truck engine start without reprograming the key cylinder and bcm?

The bypass module takes the code from the Passlock computer but you need to have the old column to programm the existing BCM to the bypass module. After the modul eis programmed you can have it activated via the ignition  wire instead of the ground when started wire but this will permanently disable the Passlock system everytime the ignition is turned over.
