which remote start is the a goos remote start for this vehicle aswell as security? i have the clifford g5, but was told that this isn't a good alarm for a manual remote start. any advice or help would be highly appreciated.thanks in advance
Astroflex, Compustar, AST.....be safe man, the clifford is NOT for a manual tranny

Get yer facts staright KarTuneMan.....Clifford has IS4 and is completely compatible with manual tranny. (but obviously you'd recommend what you sell.....makes sense

)

I was NOT aware of any remote start made by the DEI pocketbook that was manual tranny safe......I stand corrected and informed

HEY BIG DOG.....my facts are 100% the IS4 is NOT designed for a manual trans.....look at page 6 of the install manual. It's not set up to moniter the door pins AND the hand brake. I could "make it work" just like any good installer......but WOULD NOT....it's not safe
WARNING: This system is intended for AUTOMATIC transmission, fuel injected vehicles only. Installation in a standard transmission vehicle may be dangerous, and is contrary to it's intended use.

DEI (pre-Clifford acquisition days) has never built a manual starter - their lawers were dead set against it. Then they bought Clifford in 2000 along with the IS4 technology. The IS4 has always done manual stick!
You're 100% right when you say that they have a disclaimer but it doesn't mean that the unit doesn't do manual trannies. If you have Cliffnet Wizard from a couple of years ago or if you program the "controlling unit" manually using the valet switch, then YES it'll do manual tranny no matter what it says in the book. Seen it - Done it.
Just like when you buy superchargers, headlight covers or other car accessories they all say "For Off-road Use Only" to cover their butts from the lawer happy people residing in the good 'ol USA, DEI included a disclaimer but the unit works on manual trannies.
What do you think guys in UK and Europe do? The majority drive manual stick. DEI wouldn't kill a cash cow.

Big Dog hit it right on. IS4 does and has always done remote start on manual trannys and was designed to do so from the start....
Why else would they give instructions in the install manual (pg 4) on how to bypass the clutch interlock? Why else would the module have the GREEN/ black manual/automatic transmission mode wire? And why else would they they give instructions in the user guide on how to RS in a manual car (pg4)?
I've installed countless IS4's in manual trannies.... no jerry rigging at all, worked flawlessly everytime and just as safe as any other unit out there.
KarTuneMan, the hoodpin input wire is WHITE/ black and the e-brake input wire is blue/green. The install manual indicates the hoodpin connection as optional, since the alarm already interfaces with a hoodpin connection and IS4 get's the input through the 4-pin datacable between IS4 and the alarm.
