Hi, I just installed the Prestige 997 on my 1998 nissan maxima. Everything works fine except for the trunk release. The trunk pops fine from the prestige remote, but when it does the factory alarm triggers. So to avoid this I have to first disarm the prestige, which will disarm the factory alarm by unlocking the doors, then pop the trunk with the prestige alarm.

I want to know how I could avoid the factory alarm being triggered when I open my trunk with the prestige alarm.

you should have a factory disarm wire off the alarm itself (and if not then you can use the unlock wire off the alarm) to disarm the OEM alarm from the prestige. if you have to use the unlock wire then you must diode isolate if from the unlock wire in the vehilce. the wire you are looking for is the alarm disarm which is GREEN/ YELLOW and it is being listed in the smart entrance control unit which is

"The smart entrance control unit is located to the right of the steering column. It is black or blue in color."

that is the note from directechs. it is a negative trigger by the way. hope this helps and good luck!

"you should have a factory disarm wire off the alarm itself (and if not then you can use the unlock wire off the alarm) to disarm the OEM alarm from the prestige."

I didnt see a factory disarm wire for the prestige alarm and even it I use the unlock wire I don't think that will help since the prestige alarm doesn't trigger the unlock wire when openning the trunk.

What I was thinking of doing is to use the signal from the relay that is attached to the trunk release wire of the prestige alarm to disarm the factory alarm. However in order to avoid using another relay, could I use the existing trunk release relay,(in which #30 is attach to the factory trunk realase wire) and attach the factory unlock wire to pin #30, but add diodes to the factory unlock wire and to the factory trunk relase wire before connecting it to pin 30?

What I am hoping to acomplish is that when the trunk release output is triggerred from the prestige alarm the relay will connect both the factory trunk release wire and the factory unlock wire (since the unlock wire disarms the factory alarm) to ground.

if both are a neg trigger then here is how you would wire it

87 ground

**87a Insulate and left blank**

86 fused +12volt

85 trunk release output from 997 alarm ( i think this wire is a Neg 300 mAh output)

30 to trunk release wire vehicle (with diode)

30 to OEM disarm (with diode)

now the 87 and 30 in this application are interchangable so if you have it backwards from this don't worry. i just use a standard way of doing it so i can remember it later if i have to trouble shoot it or something. i hope that gets you fixed up but if you have any other questions holla and i will get back to ya. good luck.
