With help from several here, I installed my Valet 562t remote start a few weeks ago. I got busy and had to set the project aside until now.

The r.s. works like a champ when the key's in, as expected. I installed the 555d bypass module per the instructions, but it doesn't seem to want to store the transponder code.

If I put the key in the ignition (but don't turn it at all), I can hit the remote start button and the engine starts fine. The 555d's LED flashes during the startup.

Then, per the instructions, within 15 seconds I turn off the engine with the remote start button. At this point the 555d's LED should light for 3 seconds to indicate it's stored the code (after this I should be able to use the r.s. without the key in the ignition). However, when I shut off the engine with the remote, the LED doesn't light. The car won't start without the key present.

I've checked my wiring against the diagram several times. All connections are soldered and solid.

Can anyone walk me through the precise programming sequence? Or suggest something I might've loused up?

Be sure the RED wire is CONSTANT 12 Volts + .....Before, During & After Start.

After Inserting Key & Remote Starting.....Does the LED Flash??
After Deactivating Remote Start.........Are you REMOVING the Key within 15 Seconds of Remote Start during Programming?
Does the LED Illuminate?

If NOT....... Try another Key

mo12v, thanks!

Be sure the RED wire is CONSTANT 12 Volts + .....Before, During & After Start.

It's soldered into the same constant 12V that the rest of the remote start is connected to. Tested with multimeter that it's constant 12V.

After Inserting Key & Remote Starting.....Does the LED Flash??

Yes, when I insert the key and remote start by hitting the * button twice, the light on the 555d flashes. (The instructions say this means it has received, but not yet stored, the transponder code)

After Deactivating Remote Start.........Are you REMOVING the Key within 15 Seconds of Remote Start during Programming?

Yes. I remove the key and move it away from the ignition switch (throw it on the passenger seat; at that distance, I've verified the key is out of range.)

Does the LED Illuminate?

Nope. Turns off and stays off when I deactivate the remote start.

If NOT....... Try another Key

I've tried both keys that came with the car (I never got a valet key.)

One question: When you (and the instructions) say "deactivate the remote start", I take that to mean: with the car remote started, hit the * button twice to stop the engine (then, after that, remove the key from the ignition switch.) Do I have that right?

Within 15 seconds of Stopping the Remote Start, either by Remote or Brake, ...remove Key

Yup. I tried this many times now. I also tried disconnecting the bypass module and reconnecting it, before trying the program sequence again. No change:

Remote start car -> light flashes.
Deactivate -> light goes off, stays off.

Is it maybe a bad bypass module? I'm obviously not a certified installer, so I can't return it under warranty. Anyone ever had a faulty bypass module out of the box?

Run across a Bad Unit from time to time.

Be sure the BLUE Status wire is getting GROUND when Remote Start is Actvated & Running

Try relearning the 555, but without the Keysense wire hooked up

I like the OMEGA    IB-H1 - Honda/Acura Transponder Interface: TYPE-B
Data Transponder Interface: Override OEM Transponder Immobilizer Via Data (No Key Required)

Other than that, maybe someone else has an idea

check w/ teh bypass connection again. check and see if you grab the right keysense wire and right direction w/ the ignition feed and data.
