I had an ultra start tl 1270 wDEI 457gm installed in my Tahoe. When I got it home the horn beeped everytime the remote performed some type of function. I was told this was optional (was never asked) and could be programmed out. brought it back had it done. 2 days later the horn beeps twice on remote start when the lights are flashing to signfy start. between the 3rd & 4th flash.brought it back, had it reprogrammed. several days later it does again. few days go by, it stops, sometimes the horn beeps other times it doesn't. also noticed that drivers door ajar sometimes dings when door is obviously closed, have to open and close door to reset. also problem with safety chimes not working.and irratic interior lights. shop changed out interface with a differnt one (gmdp?) same problem horn always beeps between 3&4 flash on startup. shop gave up removed starter and interface, said it ws my 2004 tahoe. Horn a problem becasue wife leaves for work early am quite neighbhood any ideas?

I have an ultrastart 4260 2 way remotestarter that I installed on my 2003 suburban. I used the gmdlbp, and I have had absolutely no problem with it. it beeps once for start, and twice to unlock doors, but the horn honk is bypassed.maybe step up on the remote starter unit to at least a 2260. the 1200 series are entry level barebones. also make sure to use the gmdlbp.hope this helps

I've contacted the largest chevrolet dealer in my state. He gave me the number of the shop that does all of their installs (although they don't officially recommend it even though gm now sells it themselves) and have an appointment tomorrow to have a new rs installed. He says there won't be any problems.

I don't  know why they didn't just disconnect the horn trigger wire. the only time the truck should chirp from the remote start feature is through the WHITE/ blue horn trigger off the 1270. The interface sometimes triggers horn honk thru data, but those are factory settings that can be changed through the personalization settings in the cluster from the button on the steering wheel. Bummer really, because I know those units work well with those trucks for as complex as they are.

they told me they did that and the horn still beeped. they wanted me to take it to gm dealer and have horn programmed out. this would also disable the panic alarm while running on remote start, which is unacceptable. Also I do not have any buttons on my steering wheel  for programming any persoanlized settings.that was a factory option I didn't select or one that  didn't come with the car I selected.
